GOOD HOPE, Ala. –  A Good Hope resident, in the country illegally, was arrested June 19 by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) investigators, charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. Jesus Cortes Sandoval, 63, is a Mexican national.

According to a media release from the CCSO, “Investigators conducted a short investigation, with the assistance of Cullman County Department of Human Resources (DHR), Cullman Advocacy Center (CAC), and the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office, after victims came forward. CCSO investigators determined the suspect had committed sexual acts to a minor child under 12 years old.”

Sandoval could face additional charges related to the investigation. Because of the graphic nature of the crime and the crime involving a child, the CCSO will not release further details.

Sandoval is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer without no bond.
