CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism invites everyone to come to Heritage Park and enjoy the newly-renovated facilities Thursday, June 18. The celebration will take place from 5-7 p.m., when guests can enjoy free hot dogs and shaved ice while they take in the changes.

Assistant Athletic Director Ashley Dye said that the changes had given the park “a full face-lift.”

Renovations include a new backstop and net system for the baseball fields, new landscaping and new roofing and paint jobs for the buildings. Dye said these renovations have been in the works since November of last year and have repaired the hail damage sustained by the buildings and facilities in March 2018.

She also expressed her excitement about Thursday’s event, saying, “We’re just excited to be able to start back with our programs! We’ll be working within the necessary guidelines to keep everyone safe, and we’re just really excited to have everyone back.”

Cullman residents can look forward to another celebration at Heritage Park in the near future, this one rather patriotic. The City of Cullman will be hosting a 4th of July fireworks show at the park at 9 p.m. on Independence Day, and the fireworks will be set to patriotic music. Visitors who come to the park to watch the show in person are asked to practice social distancing (distanced seating will be marked), but those who want to watch from their homes or anywhere else in Cullman can tune in to 92.1 WKUL to listen to the music as they watch.
