Vivian Louise Spears, 82, died peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Louise was born March 11, 1938 in Cullman County to O.V. and Bernice Seymore.
Louise moved to Wyoming in the 1950s with her family where in a fairytale story she met Andy Spears, also from Alabama, and fell in love. Louise and Andy were married Jan. 28, 1956 in Casper, Wyoming and began their journey together. While in Wyoming Louise gave birth to Andy Steven Spears and twin daughters Vicki Lynn and Vivian Ann.
Following a recession in the oil industry in l967, Andy and Louise moved back to Cullman with the family and purchased the fledgling Busy Bee Cafe. Andy and Louise poured their heart and soul into the Busy Bee, transforming it into the Cullman institution that it is today. Andy and Louise’s work ethic and example were passed down to the children and grandchildren, with Steve and Kitty Spears purchasing the business in 1988. Steve passed away in 2012 and now Andy and Louise’s grandchildren run it today.
Louise was known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also Nanny and second mom to many others, pouring out unconditional love to whomever she came into contact.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; husband Andy Spears; son Steve Spears; and brothers Earl Seymore and Wayne Seymore.
Louise is survived by daughters Vicki (Jerry) Smith and Vivian (Joe) Kassouf; daughter-in-law Kitty Spears; grandchildren Stevie (Michael) Douglas, Kyle (Britney) Spears, Scott (Brittany) Hackleman, and Whitney (Justin) Shubert; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Louise loved her Lord Jesus Christ and attended East Side Baptist Church in Cullman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to East Side Baptist Church, 1111 Third St., Cullman, AL 35055, Attn. Louise Spears memorial.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Cullman City Cemetery. The graveside services will be officiated by Rev. Sam Hollis and Rev. Ken Allen.
