On June 7, 2020, the world lost a shining light with the passing of Kathy Haynes. A never-ending beacon of dreams and radiant optimism, she dedicated herself to making life easier for others as a registered nurse, a mother, a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, as well as a smiling face and kind word for anyone fortunate enough to find themselves around her for any amount of time. She will always be an example of how to work as hard as possible while maintaining the greatest sense of humor, and lived by the credence of “just go forward,” despite many difficult cards that life dealt.
An employee of Wal-Mart Distribution for 21 years, Kathy became a nurse in 2006 and spent her last five years as a travel RN through American Mobile Nursing, caring for patients around the country. She was on assignment and arriving for a workday at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas when God called her home.
Her family is beyond grateful for the incredible efforts that staff on multiple floors took to care for her, and for her daughter when the time suddenly came to say goodbye. Kayla was especially honored to witness Catholic Last Rites blessed upon her mother.
Those who knew her best know that Kathy was happiest when she was creating — building small home projects (especially outdoors on sunny days), sewing gorgeous quilts and rugs, visualizing the stories in the (thousands of) books she read. Her love of nature and the outdoors lead her to “adopt” many plants and flowers during her travels — mostly the ones that looked like they could use the most love at the time. She would be thrilled by the beautiful bouquets sent to honor her. Kathy’s entire being was centered on love. It surrounded her as an aura and was easily felt by those in her vicinity, whether she spoke to them or not. She always searched for the best in people and situations, and believed that everything happens for a reason. Everything she did in life was for the comfort and wellbeing of her family, and for those who extended their friendship. The small smile upon her gorgeous face in the time of passing was not only a comfort for her daughter, but the confirmation of a wonderful soul receiving the gift of a wondrous paradise she deserves.
Kathy is survived by her only child Kayla Haynes; mother Kay Williams Stewart; sister Glenda (Howard) Cole; niece Maegan (Kevin) Lolies and nephew Christopher Cole; her adoring grand-kitties Samantha and Leo, who already miss their warm sleeping partner; adored uncles and aunts, including Rayburn (Ann) Williams, Wayne (Pauline) Williams, Billy (Shirley) Williams, Roy (Vicky) Williams, and Shelby Jean (Don) Ledyard; and multiple wonderful cousins and friends who blessed her with a lifetime of comfort and pure joy.
There is also no doubt that she was met at Heaven’s gate by an eternity of beloved family members (pets definitely included), friends, ancestors, and angels, all of whom watched over this special woman in life, and eagerly awaited the arrival of her exuberant laugh, vivacious energy, and gentle hug. Her addition to that group makes it a meeting that those of us left behind now eagerly await.
We love you, Kathy. Thank you for everything you were here, are now, and always will be. No pain now — only love. Forever.
