COVID-19 patient leaves Cullman Regional after 52 days

CULLMAN, Ala. – A man who spent 52 days at Cullman Regional due to complications from COVID-19 on Friday was discharged. Staff lined the hallway and cheered as Rolando Marquez, 51, was wheeled out.

Cullman Regional released the following statement: “Cullman Regional announced via video the discharge of a COVID-19 patient, Rolando Marquez who was initially admitted to the hospital as a COVID-19 patient. Mr. Marquez has since tested negative for COVID-19, yet continued to receive treatment for complications of his initial diagnosis. Cullman Regional shares current number of positive patients, and Mr. Marquez hasn’t been positive for some time. Mr. Marquez was hospitalized for 52 days, and was released from Cullman Regional today. The Cullman Regional staff cheered as he was discharged out of the Critical Care Unit of Cullman Regional this morning. The Cullman Regional staff has rallied around Mr. Marquez throughout his treatment, and our team is excited to see him recovering and moving in a positive direction. We wish him the best.”
