HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville’s Bulldogs Country Cook’n will not be reopening its doors after closing in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the local favorite diner featuring great steaks and a popular Sunday meat and three will not return, owner Nolan Bradford said he has two possible eateries ready to move into Hanceville’s downtown area.
The shutdown was especially difficult for Bulldogs Country Cook’n because it did not have drive-thru capabilities, and while curbside service was an option, Bradford said that would not have been enough business to sustain the restaurant.
“We had to close, but then another opportunity came up for another restaurant.”
He added, “I have a Mexican place looking at moving in and another seafood-type place interested in opening.”
Bradford said the Mexican restaurant would likely open in the Bulldogs’ Commercial Street location, and the seafood restaurant is looking to open in the Walls Center on Bangor Street.
Bulldogs Country Cook’n opened back on June 19, 2018, replacing the old C-Street Cafe.
