Thomas (Tom) Winston Kean was born in Karnak, Illinois July 6, 1939 to Joseph Lamen and Sadie Adeline Wilson Kean. He was the grandson of Charles Owen and Hattie Lowe Kean and Isaac and Catherine Deaton Wilson. Tom went to be with his Heavenly Father May 9, 2020 at the age of 80 years.
He married the love of his life, Brenda Gail Hyatt, Dec. 12, 1960 in Lubbock, Texas. Tom was raised in the Karnak United Methodist Church and after marriage, became a member of the Southern Baptist Faith. He served in many capacities including: Sunday school teacher, deacon, and was a member of many committees. He was a member of Berlin Baptist Church and served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; their children Janna (Robin) Henderson of Holly Pond, Alabama, Mark (Lisa) Kean of Huntsville, Alabama and Greg Kean of Hanceville, Alabama; grandchildren Courtney (Steve) Henderson Speciale, Zachary (Emily) Henderson, Callie (Daniel) Henderson Robertson, Sophie Kean, Shelby Kean, Heather (Alan) Kean Cone and Lance Kean; great-grandchildren; Eliza and Suzanna Speciale and Kaylie Cone. He is also survived by brother Col. Jerry J. Kean, USAF, ret. and his wife Marilyn; brothers-in-law Ronnie Hyatt and Danny (Jeanie) Hyatt; sisters-in-law Carol Hyatt, Ann Hyatt and Debbie Hyatt; and a great host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie Kean Ward, brothers-in-law Curtis Hyatt, Arnold Hyatt, and Gary Hyatt; and nephews Curt and James Hyatt.
The family would like to offer many thanks to the Woodland Village Heath Care and Comfort Care Hospice of Cullman for the compassionate care during Tom’s illness.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private graveside service for the family at Holly Pond Cemetery at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Holly Pond, Alabama with Danny Hyatt officiating.
