Amy Carter announces candidacy for Cullman City School Board

CULLMAN, Ala. – Amy Carter on Friday announced her candidacy for Cullman City School Board, Place 5. All seats on the board are up for re-election in the Aug. 25, 2020 municipal election.

Carter is married to local attorney Matt Carter. They have one child, Griffin Carter, 13, who will enter the eighth grade in the fall.

Carter is a 1994 graduate of Samford University where she earned a degree in education, becoming an athletic trainer.

Early in her career, Carter worked for HealthSouth Sports Medicine in numerous schools, including Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Thompson, Hueytown and Shades Valley. She is currently employed by Myriad Genetics.

Carter released the following statement:

“Cullman has experienced tremendous growth over the last 15 years, and I look forward to addressing the needs that accompany growth as an advocate for funding, campus security, and facility improvement with a central focus of student success. I am excited about the campaign and look forward to getting to work.”
