CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Primary School (CCPS) Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) recently announced the start of its school supply box sale for West Elementary and CCPS, with East Elementary’s sale beginning soon.
The Tribune spoke with CCPS PTO President Marci Watts to get more information.
“The most important thing for parents to know, especially our upcoming kindergarten parents, is that they know this is a resource available to them,” she said. “Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, this will allow them to not to be in stores shopping for individual school supplies. This will give them a chance to order them online. The supplies are sent to the school a week before school starts. The PTO passes them out to all the classrooms, and when kids arrive at open house, their school supplies are all ready for them at their desk, so really the parents don’t have to worry about anything. It’s all taken care of.”
For those who may not know what the school supply boxes are, Watts explained, “Basically, the supply box is everything that’s on the supply list, but the school will list like ‘these are the supplies for kindergarten,’ so if you have a kindergarten child, these are the supplies you need to buy. This box already has those supplies in it for you.”
Supplies depend on what grade-level your child is; she noted each is different.
“There is no supply they will have to purchase on their own,” Watts said. “The company we use takes our teachers’ supply lists and fills the boxes for us.”
Watts shared, “I talked to East Elementary School too. They’re starting their sale hopefully within the next week or two, and they’re doing their supply boxes as well. They wanted to make sure that East families, that if they’re on Facebook, that they’ve liked East Elementary’s Facebook page or if they’re upcoming second graders going to East, they can go ahead and email East’s PTO to get their name on the supply kit list.”

Each school has a unique account code to access the ability to purchase kits. CCPS’s account number is 42083. West Elementary’s account number is WES513. East Elementary will release its website and account number when it opens its sale. CCPS’ sale ends May 29, 2020 and West’s sale ends May 20, 2020.
Prices vary, and are listed on the order sites.
For CCPS, Watts wanted to add important information for parents who had children in CCPS’s head-start program, saying, “For the kids that were enrolled last year in our head-start program, who will be going into kindergarten this year, head-start is covering all their school supply costs for their kit, as long as they were enrolled in our head-start program, their costs are covered for their kits.”
