Robert “Bob” Lowell Burdick, 77, of Addison entered into rest Friday, April 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born Aug. 29, 1942 in Addison, Alabama. He graduated from Addison High School at the age of 15, then attended the University of Alabama where he earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering. During his career, he collaborated on projects that contributed to NASA’s Skylab & Space Shuttle Programs. He served in the National Guard and was a long-term member of the Addison Masonic Lodge. He attended Addison New Beginning Christian Church and served on the board of the Carrie Hester Burdick Foundation, which continues his mother’s tradition of providing Bibles to Addison’s graduating seniors. His hobbies included golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, and working on his farm.
As per State and Federal guidelines, a private service will be held. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.
Bob is survived by his sons Tommy Burdick and his wife Xin Hong and Benny Burdick and his wife Melanie; daughter Wendy Burdick; grandchildren Tommy Lei, Kai Kai, MaKenna, Edward and Campbell Burdick; sisters Jean Hall, Mildred Scheel, Carolyn Hunsaker and Lane Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sherry Burdick; infant daughter Robin Burdick; parents Burton and Carrie Burdick; sister Nina Vono; brother Burton Burdick, Jr.; and nephew Philip Schoonover.
