CULLMAN, Ala. – As a thank you to essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, local State Farm Insurance agent Tesha Brewer is hosting a Feeding Our Frontlines and Blood Drive event Wednesday and Thursday, April 15 and 16 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at her State Farm Office, which is located at 909 Fisher St. SW Cullman.

On both days, free lunch will be available for the first 100 essential workers. Wednesday’s event is for plant and grocery store workers and Thursday will be for medical personnel and first responders.

Brewer said workers will be asked to show an ID to obtain meals, which will include a sandwich, chips, cookie and water. The sandwiches are provided by Sweet Peppers Deli (Wednesday) and Chick-Fil-A (Thursday).

On both days, LifeSouth will be onsite overseeing the blood drive. Anyone from the community is welcome to donate.

Brewer shared, “We just want to give back to our community. We’re not asking for anything in return; anybody is welcome to come give blood, it doesn’t have just be the people we’re feeding. So, anybody that’s an essential employee or anyone that is out is welcome to come give blood. They’re (LifeSouth) practicing social distancing, so we are following those guidelines. We’ll be set up outside the office under a tent.”

She continued, “We just want to show our appreciation to those helping on the front lines, that’s it. We just want to tell everyone thank you for still being there for us, being able to provide groceries and being able to provide for our needs.”
