Mildred Pauline Frank Evers, of Cullman passed away peacefully at her residence Tuesday, March 31, 2020. She was born July 8, 1929 to Will Frank and Ruth McClendon Frank.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She married Otto William Evers Nov. 18, 1951. Six days later, Otto was sent to Japan as a member of the United States Air Force. Mildred was very active in St. Paul’s. She and her sister wrote the newsletter for Pastor Henry Meyer for a number of years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, on various committees including the Church Council of Treasurer, member and President of the Sunshine Club for a number of years. She was a member of the Pilot Club for more than 28 years and was a member of the Cullman County Historical Club and served bother organizations as President. She was a charter member of the German Club and the Friends of Frankweiler. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the Beatification Committee and was a member of the Oktoberfest Committee. She served on the Cullman County Hospice Board and served as Treasurer for eight years. Mildred and Otto worked several years to see the outdoor learning at Cullman Primary begun. She was a Master Gardener for many years and taught classes on gardening. She worked with the Pilot Club, the Cullman County Sheriffs’ Office and the City of Cullman Police Department in bringing Project Life Saver to Cullman and Cullman County. She was a banker in Cullman for many years. Mildred and Otto enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe with their daughter and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Hazel Frank, her brother Lester Frank and her daughter Denise Evers.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Otto W. Evers, her daughter Kathryn Evers, her grandson Will Hartwig, and her granddaughter Katherine Hartwig.
