BREMEN, Ala. — The Night Ride scheduled at Stony Lonesome OHV Park for Saturday March 28 has been canceled. Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director Doug Davenport said Wednesday afternoon, “We called it off. We are going to cancel it.”
The delay in the cancelation had caused some concern regarding guidelines put in place by the state to limit the spread of Covid-19.
Davenport explained, “It’s not a special event, it’s just extended hours. The same thing that happens at 8 or 10 in the morning is at 7 at night but since more people come to that from out of the county or out of the state, we did call that off.” He added, “We are open in the parks for people to come walk in the parks like at Sportsman’s Park and we have all the parks set up where it’s a walk up window where nobody is coming inside and we have provided our staff with masks and gloves. We are trying to take all precautions, but we don’t know at what point they might say to lock down for so many days. We are just playing it by ear right now.”
Cullman County Commissioner Garry Marchman voiced concern prior to the Night Ride at the OHV being canceled Wednesday afternoon, “It was my understanding that all the park activities had been canceled.” Marchman said, “The smart thing to do would be to cancel it and put it off to June or sometime.”
