CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman High School cafeteria will be packed this Saturday morning when the Cullman Kiwanis Club hosts its 64th annual Pancake Day. Diners can eat in or carry out. Tickets are $7. Kids 6 and younger eat free (dine in only).
Cullman Kiwanis Club Member Martha Burchell shared, “Our priority is children, so we support children in the area and also give scholarships to high school students, seniors, every year. We have four or five schools, at least four, in which we support the Key Clubs. We train youth how to be leaders, that’s what our main focus is, is to support our youth.”
The funds raised at pancake day will go toward Kiwanis community project funds, which cover the scholarships.
“Most of the funds are used for fun projects for children,” said Burchell, “it doesn’t all go to scholarships. Sometimes we may have another project we want to fund, but it goes to support our children. It’s just a great little civic organization that doesn’t have a lot of fluff. We’re a global organization serving children all over the world.”
