Cullman man charged with theft of more than $200K from Cullman County Fair Association

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department (CPD) on Tuesday arrested Stephen L. Singleton, 72, of Cullman in connection with a theft from the Cullman County Fair Association from 2013-2019.

Singleton is charged with aggravated theft by deception (theft in excess of $200,000) and first-degree theft of property.

Singleton owns Business Solutions of Cullman, formerly Bryan Business Solutions, on Third Street Southeast.

Back on Jan. 10, 2020, Attorney Heath Meherg of the law firm of Griffith, Lowry & Meherg issued the following statement on behalf of the Cullman County Fair Association:

“Approximately one week ago, the Cullman County Fair Association discovered that an individual had misappropriated a substantial amount of funds belonging to the Association. After a preliminary investigation by the Association, this matter was referred to local law enforcement. At this time, the Association will not comment on the amount of funds or the identity of the suspect. The Association is working with law enforcement in this matter. Until the investigation is complete, the Association cannot provide any further details.”

The CPD said no other details of the investigation will be released at this time.
