CULLMAN, Ala. – Precision Hair Cutters will soon celebrate 40 years of doing business in Cullman. That’s long enough to see the mullet make a comeback! The salon has been located in two different locations over the last 40 years, both in the South Cullman Shopping Center.
A 40th anniversary celebration will take place the week of Feb. 10-15, with goodies and drinks for guests.
“We are just going to have a party for a few days and hope people will join us,” said owner Janna Walker
She said after all these years, she still loves making others look great, and she’s witnessed many styles come and go.
“Everything always comes back around, even the mullet,” she laughed.
She’s also seen some of the same customers for four decades.
“I have a few customers who have been coming to me the whole time we’ve been here,” Walker said.
Next to Walker’s chair is stylist Brooke Baker, who has been with Precision Hair Cutters for 20 years.
When asked what the biggest change has been over the years, without hesitation, Baker said, “Price!” adding, “We have to have every size curling iron and different flat irons now, and there are so many more products.”
One thing that hasn’t changed is older women coming on Saturday to have their hair fixed before church Sunday.
“I have lots of them and I love it,” said Walker of her older clientele. She has her curler cart beside her, and although it’s not Baker’s preferred thing, Walker said she loves giving perms and using rollers.
Precision offers perms, cuts, styles, highlights, colors and special event styles. The salon also has the small boutique Maricille’s inside.
Precision Hair Cutters is open Monday- Friday 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Appointments are preferred. The salon is located at 1624 Second Ave. SW. Find out more at www.facebook.com/phc1624/.
