GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Coming up this Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. is the New Year, New You Polar Run 5K Run/Walk at Good Hope High School. Whether you prefer to walk or run, everyone is encouraged to come out and participate in the event to raise funds for the Good Hope High School International Travel Education Program.

GHHS teachers Tiffany Ellis and Matt McCullough lead the program and are raising money to take 14 students for an educational trip of a lifetime.

Ellis explained, “My first year, March of 2019, I took four students to Paris, Florence and Rome. They loved it and learned so much! They came back with stories and pictures and told everyone about it. Now, we have 14 students traveling to Italy in March 2021. This program is centered on student education and personal growth. Because this is an expensive yet invaluable learning experience, we are wanting to give our students every opportunity to raise money for this.”

For the March 2021 trip, the students will not visit Paris, allowing more time to focus on visiting and taking in the history and inspiring sites of Rome and Florence.

The cost to register for the 5K is $20. Water will be available at checkpoints during the route. Following the 5K, participants are welcome to water and snacks that will be set up in the GHHS gymnasium. Awards will also be given out in the gym immediately following the race.
