CULLMAN, Ala. – The upcoming March 3 primary ballot will include a measure to create a new 1-cent tax to support schools. Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette has said that his priority for the new tax revenue is security, followed by a plan for extensive upgrades to all campuses, and climaxing with what he called his “dream” for a completely new Cullman Area Technology Academy that will include a high school, to be located on one of the current high school campuses.
Between now and the March 3 vote, the Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) will hold a series of community meetings at local schools as well as the CCBOE office at 402 Arnold St. NE in Cullman to allow voters an opportunity to find out more about the plan and ask questions.
Meetings are as follows:
- Monday, Feb. 3, Vinemont/Child Development Center in the Vinemont lunchroom at 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 5, Central Office board room at 4 p.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 6, Cold Springs in the Cold Springs gym at 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 10, Good Hope in the Good Hope lunchroom at 6 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 17, West Point/Harmony in the West Point auditorium at 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 18, Hanceville/Welti in the Hanceville High gym at 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 19, Central Office Board Room at 8 a.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 20, Fairview/Parkside in the Fairview auditorium at 6 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 24, Holly Pond in the Holly Pond lunchroom at 6 p.m.
