Patricia “Pat” Ann McManus Umphrey of Cullman, AL went to her heavenly home Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 at the age of 82.
Pat was born Aug. 9, 1937 to Chester and Bessie French McManus and was a lifelong resident of Cullman.
Pat was a devoted wife of 58 years to Ulen Umphrey and mother to three children. She was a 1956 graduate of West Point High School, member of Crosses Chapel Methodist Church, and long-term resident of Cullman Healthcare and Rehab. During her lifetime, she worked at several places in Cullman, most notably the King Edward Cigar Plant and Jim Walter Homes (JWH) from where she retired after 30 years of service. During her tenure at JWH, she held several positions including secretary, sales person, and office manager. She was a caring and loving mother who took great joy in her children and grandchildren and supported them in all their many activities, including serving as treasurer of the West Point High School Band Boosters for 12 years. She was an avid seamstress and also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by son James (Connie) Umphrey; daughter Jolanda (Darryl) Hutson; and grandchildren Gavin Hutson, Colby Hutson, Ciara (JT) Bringardner, and Sable McFatter. She had one great-granddaughter, Gidget Bringardner; and a host of beloved nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Calvin Lee Umphrey; sister Evelyn Galin Linton; and brother Thurman McManus.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, with burial at Crosses Chapel Cemetery.
