HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s men’s basketball team registered a 77-69 road victory at Marion Military Institute in Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) action on Monday night.
Sophomore Markise Davis paced the Lions with 23 points and 11 rebounds, tallying his third double-double of the season.
Three other Lions scored in double figures as Kuran Garner, Juwan Johnson and Eugune Leonard each finished with 11 points. Leonard added seven rebounds.
Kendall Cotner finished with nine points and eight rebounds for Wallace State, which improved to 10-8 overall and 1-1 in ACCC play.
The Lions drained 11 3-pointers as a unit. Davis, Garner and Johnson accounted for three treys apiece.
Four Wallace State players are averaging double figures this season – Garner leads the way with 12.5 points per game, while Davis, Johnson and Leonard each put in 10 points.
Both Wallace State teams host Gadsden State on Thursday at Tom Drake Coliseum. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Lions (14-3) are ranked No. 19 in the latest NJCAA poll.
Wallace State sophomore Imari Martin leads the conference in scoring with 21.1 points per game. Teammate Kyra Williams is third in the league, scoring 18.2 points per game.
Wallace State’s originally scheduled game for Jan. 11 vs. Lawson State has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
