CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman partygoers ushered in the new year with style and pizzazz Tuesday night and had a “roaring” good time doing so. While looking forward to 2020, New Year’s Eve party fashions were a throwback to the era of the speakeasy, flappers and pinstripes. Whether stepping out to Top of the Town, Dreher’s or 412 Public House, one couldn’t help but enjoy the “Great Gatsby”-like atmospheres. Celebrations also took place at the Cullman Moose Lodge and Goat Island Brewing.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School held its Inaugural New Year’s Eve party and fundraiser at Top of the Town. Guests enjoyed a fun night of live music and amazing food. Guests danced, had a few cocktails and visited the photo booth while waiting for midnight to arrive with a champagne toast.

Down the street at Dreher’s and Moe’s, the parties were also in full swing. Downtown Cullman sparkled as the ladies in sequin flappers and the men donning fedoras and suits took in the grand soirées. The staff at Dreher’s worked feverishly as midnight approached to make sure guests had the champagne ready. Dreher’s was packed to standing-room only, making it party central for the more energetic crowds.

The Cullman Moose Lodge featured live music by Honeysuckle Blue with Chester Cox on percussion. The soft lighting, smooth music and spacious dance area inspired several couples to dance like it was their prom night all over again, and all the guests were kind enough to gather around for a group picture to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

412 Public House served dinner specials by Chef Ricardo, and by 10:30 the restaurant was a haven of calm for people who wanted to go out and celebrate without having to deal with large crowds and loud music.

Goat Island partiers enjoyed prime rib plates from Freddie Day Catering and live music by Round 2. Guests spent the hour before midnight dancing away the decade to songs like “Twist and Shout” and “La Bamba,” while everyone watched a live broadcast of the countdown to 2020 on the largest screen in the room. As the decade came to an end, couples across the brewery embraced and danced to Round 2’s rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Perhaps saying goodbye to the teens and making it to the 20s helping elevate enthusiasm and genuine optimism. At least in the few hours leading up to midnight and in the time following, everyone was happy. In downtown Cullman, the laughter, hugs and kisses were plentiful and 2020 was off to a great start.
