CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay reported that the shelter is finishing the year on a high note, having seen several Cullman Tribune Pets of the Week get adopted, along with others. But there are still animal friends hoping for a happy new year, so Ruttkay now shares a new Pet of the Week:

Asher is a 1.5-year-old Plott Hound mix with the dramatic striped brindle coat typical of the breed.  He’s an active-but-not hyper medium-energy pet who loves human interaction. He is well-tempered, developing good leash skills and respecting his people’s personal space.

Asher has the makings of a therapy, hiking or companion dog.

Asher’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
