The Tribune asked several people out and about, “What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?” Here are their responses.
“My favorite thing about Christmas is everybody coming home for the holidays and spending time with family. That doesn’t happen often.”
“Getting to spend it with my family. We follow our traditions. My boys are grown, but they still get their stockings. They have the same stockings from when they were little. We will probably go to Sportsman Lake and see the Christmas lights together.”
“To me, being with your family, making memories and furthering relationships. You can’t get back time you’ve lost. The most precious thing we have is our time, so don’t waste it. Invest it wisely. Put the phones away. We end up sitting around the table laughing, cutting up and playing card games.”
“The best thing about Christmas to me is how people come together and help each other out. Just make it a fun time and make it about people more than the presents. I’ve always enjoyed that part.”
“All my friends, we spend time together and we share memories and things together. Plus, we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. It’s Jesus’s birthday! What better thing is there than to celebrate Jesus’s birthday?”
“The best thing about Christmas is family and the reason- that Jesus was born.”
“The best thing about Christmas is the food!”
“My favorite part about Christmas is that everyone is in a good mood and everyone is excited for Christmas. It just creates this excited energy in the air and makes everyone happy.”
“The best part about Christmas is the joy and spending time with family.”
“The best part of Christmas is remembering the peace that Jesus brings even during the hustle and bustle.”
“My favorite part, it always brings me to tears, is singing ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’ the hymn in the church service. That’s the part for me when I finally feel Christmas. There are a lot of things, I mentioned eggnog, but that moment is when I feel it the most. I am just overwhelmed by God’s grace.”
“That you get to spend time with my family. We watch ‘Elf.’”
“The best part is opening presents and candy! I love Kernel Kullman and sour sticks.”
“Spending time with family and going to our Carols by Candlelight service at my church, First Baptist. Also walking downtown and seeing everything decorated. It’s like I’m in a Hallmark movie.”
