Corner got off to a very strong start, forcing some Good Hope turnovers and turning some of them into easy points as they jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead. Ivey Maddox got the Lady Raiders on the scoreboard with a free throw with 2:26 remaining in the opening period, but the Lady Yellow Jackets quickly converted on a three-point play to make it 11-1 early. Bailey Tetro hit a layup for Good Hope’s first basket of the quarter on its next possession and the Lady Raiders added a pair of free throws from Maddox and a layup by Cayleigh Garmon to make it a 13-7 game after one.

Corner got a technical foul to start out the second period for having too many players on the court and Maddox hit one of two from the line to make it 13-8. The Lady Raiders increased their defensive intensity, forcing Corner into bad shots and turnovers and Savanna Derrick scored five in a row to tie the game at 13.

Good Hope 89 – Corner 76 (varsity boys)

Corner started the game with a layup, then Good Hope’s Cole Maddox hit a three for the Raiders’ first basket of the quarter. After Corner took a 7-5 lead on another layup, an Eli Phares basket helped start a 10-3 run, which he ended with another layup, to take a 15-10 lead with 3:10 remaining in the period. Good Hope would later stretch its lead to 21-12 after a 6-0 run but Corner made it 21-15 on a three-point play. Drew Maddox hit a trey just before the buzzer to stretch the Raider lead to 24-15 after the opening quarter.

A Tanner Malin trey pushed Good Hope’s lead to double digits at 27-15 and then to 31-15 after Michael Lowe hit back-to-back shots. The Yellow Jackets later cut the deficit to 33-21 on a three, but Cole Maddox scored seven in a row and Lawton Farr hit a layup to stretch the Raider lead to 42-21. They would take a 47-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Dawson Turner stopped the run with a three to make it 58-45, but the Yellow Jackets later cut the lead to single digits at 58-49. Good Hope managed to push its lead to 62-49 after three.

The physicality on both sides intensified in the final period, as multiple times players from both sides had to be separated by the officials to prevent a fight from happening. The Raiders then went on a 10-2 run, with six of those points coming from the charity stripe, to increase their lead to 74-54. Corner looked to make it a game as they scored nine of the game’s next 13 points to make it a 78-63 game and later scored nine in a row to make it a single-digit game at 85-76, but Malin hit four straight from the free throw line to seal the 89-76 win for the sixth-ranked Raiders.
