ALL-STATE FOOTBALL: 14 local athletes earn All-State honors; Vinemont’s Dinkle, Fairview’s Martin land on first team

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 2019 All-State Football teams were released by the Alabama Sports Writers Association Saturday night and there were 14 local athletes that landed spots on this year’s teams. Fairview’s Parker Martin and Vinemont’s Dallin Dinkle each earned first team honors after stellar seasons for the Aggies and Eagles. Martin was the quarterback for a powerful Fairview offense in 2019 but was also a standout in the defensive secondary, earning his first team honors on that side of the ball. Dinkle was the workhorse for Vinemont from week one and led the way for the Eagles offensively throughout the season.

Cullman’s Jayden Sullins and Jaylen Hughey each finished with second team All-State honors after their dynamic seasons in the Bearcat backfield and Luke Chambers and Jeb Robinson each earned second team All-State finishes after leading a stingy Addison defense to the playoffs. Hanceville’s Brodie Malcom landed on the All-State second team after a big junior season and Good Hope’s Tanner Malin earned second team honors after leading an explosive Raiders offense in 2019. Fairview’s Tyvn Ellis and Levi Garner both finished as All-State second teamers after memorable senior and junior campaigns respectively that helped lead the Aggies to its best season in years and Cold Springs put a player on this year’s All-State second team as well; Ayden Alexander, who was an impact player on both sides of the ball for the Eagles.

Several local players earned honorable mentions this season as well, including Good Hope’s Walter Perez, who earned an All-State honorable mention last year as well, and another pair of Cold Springs Eagles. Roberto Ayala, who was a playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Eagles all season and earned his All-State recognition on the defensive end and Jordan Lacey, who, along with Ayala, helped lead the Cold Springs defense into the playoffs this season.

Class 2A local All-State Selections:

Luke Chambers, Addison – Second-Team All-State defensive back

Jeb Robinson, Addison – Second-Team All-State defensive lineman

Ayden Alexander, Cold Springs – Second-Team All-State running back

Roberto Ayala, Cold Springs – All-State Honorable Mention defensive back

Jordan Lacey, Cold Springs – All-State Honorable Mention linebacker

Class 3A local All-State Selections:

Dallin Dinkle, Vinemont – First-Team All-State running back

Brodie Malcom, Hanceville – Second-Team All-State wide receiver

Class 4A Local All-State Selections:

Parker Martin, Fairview – First-Team All-State defensive back

Tyvn Ellis, Fairview – Second-Team All-State athlete

Levi Garner, Fairview – Second-Team All-State offensive lineman

Tanner Malin, Good Hope – Second-Team All-State athlete

Walter Perez, Good Hope – All-State Honorable Mention kicker

Class 6A local All-State Selections:

Jaylen Hughey, Cullman – Second-Team All-State running back

Jayden Sullins, Cullman – Second-Team All-State athlete
