CULLMAN, Ala. – On Sunday evening, the Northbrook Baptist Church children’s ministry performed its production of Little Big Stuff’s “Arrest These Merry Gentlemen,” the tale of Bethlehem police officer Joe Sabbath and his investigation of a case of disturbing the peace involving shepherds, mysterious travelers from the east and an out-of-town family. Along the way, he unwittingly meets Mary, Joseph and the angel Gabriel, and even gets to hold baby Jesus, before he finally figures out that everyone is perfectly justified in making all the noise. In the end, Joe encourages everyone to disturb the peace with the story of Jesus.

Drama Director Erica Tucker told The Tribune, “Working with the kids is always fun. You know, it’s always stressful and chaotic through the process, but it’s always so much fun to get to the end and to see how hard the kids have worked, and let them get to shine and give glory to Christ above all.”

Musical Director Kristi Warden talked about putting the production together, saying, “The challenge was it’s a pretty lengthy production that I think they’re doing, for the kids: a lot of drama, a lot of lines for them to learn. But the fun part has been just the whole story coming together, and I think the music has been excellent-the choices of music that were in the musical-and I think they’ve had a good time, you know, with some of the fun lines in the drama. They’re just comical, but yet it tells the story of Christ, which is the whole point. I have loved the musical. I think it’s been just really great, the way they’ve written it and put it together. It’s been one of my favorites.”

After the show, Northbrook Pastor Keith Warden told The Tribune, “We’re just proud of our kids and we love them. They worked so hard, and there’s so many of them that have incredible talents and gifts, and we’re grateful to be able to give them away, to use them to express their love for the Lord. It’s a blessing for me to be able to watch that and to enjoy that.”
