BAILEYTON, Ala. – Baileyton Family Medicine celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning. The clinic, which offers “personal, one-on-one care,” is located next to Baileyton Town Hall at 105 Fire Station Road.
The clinic is operated by Dr. Josiah Daily and Nurse Practitioner Kindra Edwards and offers primary and urgent care services, DOT physicals, sports/employee physicals, x-rays, allergy testing, minor office procedures and women’s health services.
“I am not from Cullman County, but Fairview and Baileyton took me in as family,” said Daily. “They treat me like I grew up here. So, it’s something we can give back to the community.”
Added Edwards, “The main reason why we chose Baileyton is because it’s a rural area. There’s a massive need for that. There’re so many people here with no insurance and there’s not access to health care around here. We love building relationships with our patients. This has always been my heart before I even started school.”
Edwards’ husband Dwight explained, “She’s the kind that figures out what is best for each person. In medicine, you know what someone needs to do, but are they going to do that and comply with that? You have to formulate a plan and work together. She really works at that hard.”
Edwards has dreamed about bringing a practice to Baileyton.
“Lots of prayer went into it,” she said, “to be able to give medical access to people who are hardworking, salt of the earth people who may not have the insurances others might be provided was important. My dad is from this area, too, so I have family here and we are all just normal people.”
Dwight Edwards smiled, “She could have taken a job at a larger established place, but her faith in Christ led her here to do what she needed to do.
The clinic is open Monday 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday (Doctor’s Diet only with Dr. Daily) 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 8-11 a.m. seasonally.
The clinic takes walk-ins and appointments and accepts most major insurances including Medicaid. It also welcomes uninsured patients.
