Wilbur Henry Arnold, Jr., 94, of Cullman, Alabama died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 7, 1925 in Greencastle, Indiana, to Wilbur Henry and Winnie Lucille Knauer Arnold.
Wilbur was a WWII veteran of the Navy where he served honorably on the LST-700 in the Pacific. He saw action at the Battle of the Philippines, Battle of Luzon, Battle of Leyte Gulf, and many others, even surviving a kamikaze airplane attack that killed a number of crewmates. He worked 31 years at Cullman Products where he was a longtime anodizing supervisor. Wilbur enjoyed the Cullman Moose Lodge and served as secretary for many years. His passions were tractors, NASCAR, and sports of all forms and fashions.
He is preceded by his wife of 60 years, Anna Jane Day Arnold, parents, and various brothers and sisters.
Wilbur is survived by his daughters, Deborah Arnold Johnson of Cullman, AL and Barbara Arnold (John) Burnum of Cullman, AL.
The family will receive friends at the Cullman Heritage Funeral from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019. Burial will be Friday Nov. 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
