Edward Duffy Byrnside, 69, of Arley passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.
Duffy was born Nov. 10, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Dana and Gloria Byrnside. He attended Morristown High School in New Jersey where he graduated in 1968. He then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Alabama and graduated in 2001 and 2004. He ran a construction company for 10 years and was a course marshal at Barber Motorsports Park for over 10 years. He was a member of the 1st Lutheran Church in Birmingham for 10 years. His pastimes were working on old European cars and watching Formula 1 racing. Everyone called him Duffy.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at noon at Meek Cemetery. Brother Thomas Hyche will officiate.
Duffy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlotte Byrnside; sons, BJ (Katie Braune) Cox and Edward Dylan (Ashley Dodd) Byrnside; sister, Julie Brown; he was known as Granpa Duff to three grandchildren, Ansley Cox, Preston Cox, and Dash Byrnside.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dana Byrnside and Gloria Elizabeth Byrnside; and sister, Erin Surgent.
