Paula Lynn Blanton Williams, 50, of Double Springs passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Paula was born June 12, 1969 in Haleyville.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 35 years before becoming a member of Concord Baptist Church seven years ago. She has served as Sunday school teacher, pianist, organist, VBS teacher and director. She was a graduate of the Class of 1987 of Winston County High School and the Class of 1991 of the University of North Alabama. Paula was first and second grade teacher at Double Springs Elementary School for 25 years, and coached volleyball at Winston County High School. She went on to receive her master’s degree in education from UAB in 1999. She enjoyed playing piano, watching her children play sports, reading and traveling.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Church in Double Springs. She will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Friday, with services to follow at 2 p.m. Brother Shawn Blanton and Brother Tony Gasaway to officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Paula is survived by her husband of 25 years, Michael Williams; son, Connor Williams; daughter, Madison Williams; parents, Johnny P. and Linda Blanton; brother, Shawn Blanton and his wife Shelly; brother-in-law, Mark Williams and his wife Hannah; sister-in-law, Kristi Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Camilla and Gene Williams; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Elizabeth Cobb; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Belle Blanton
