(Updated) Morgan Co. escaped inmate captured with missing Moulton teen

DECATUR, Ala. – The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), on its Facebook page, said its investigators are “actively pursing leads along with the assistance of area agencies” to locate escaped inmate John Kaleb Gillespie, 30, of Decatur, a man accused of trying to kill an Alabama State Trooper.
 
Gillespie is 6-feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. 
 

The MCSO said he scaled a rec yard wall with help from a fellow inmate, navigated razor wire and climbed down a 25-foot wall.

Gillespie is a registered sex offender, according to the MCSO, which warned, “Do not approach. He has a violent history with law enforcement.”

According to the MCSO, Gillespie’s recent arrest history includes:

▪️6/4/19 attempting to promote prison contraband

▪️1/21/19 bond revoked, SORNA violation

▪️11/23/18 sex offender adult registration

▪️11/23/18 trafficking illegal drugs

▪️11/23/18 probation violation- second-degree rape
