BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Cullman Area Technology Academy (CATA) Cosmetology students Elyse Koloski and Savannah Sivley, along with model Aaliyah Daugherty, on Monday won first-place honors with their “nymph forest fairy” design in the fairy tale-themed student competition at the Premiere Birmingham regional beauty trade show at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex.
The student contest rules, from the Premiere website, were simple: “Create an elevated avant-garde hair and makeup look depicting a fairytale creature including but not limited to: Unicorns, mermaids, fairies and witches.”
Teacher Tasha Flanigan told The Tribune, “Premiere Show Group is one of the most successfully managed shows in the beauty industry, providing education for hair, skin, nails and skin care professionals. I am so proud my students got the chance to compete in a competition like this. They represented our department and school very well, displaying great teamwork and skills to win this competition. There were 15 teams: four high school and 11 college; a lot of the teams were from different states.”
