CULLMAN, Ala. – At its September meeting, the Cullman County Community Development Commission (CCCDC) approved nine grants, totaling more than $100,000. Seven local organizations and schools were presented with their grant checks Monday morning.
The grant recipients present Monday morning were:
- Sacred Heart School for self-guided student resources $12,000
- Cullman County Veterans Day Celebration Committee for 2019 Cullman County Veterans Day Celebration $12,000
- Cullman County Center for the Developmentally Disabled (CCCDD) for shipping for supplies $12,000
- Hanceville Fire and Rescue for generator for fire station $12,000
- Good Hope Middle School for Chromebooks $10,000
- United Way of Cullman County for funding local agencies $12,000
- Cullman County Community Corrections for Veterans Court $12,000
Other grant recipients from September are:
- Cold Springs Community Center for parking lot and flooring $12,000
- North Alabama Agriplex for the Food for Life Program $12,000
CCCDC members are:
- Cherrie Haney – appointed by Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman
- Joe Golden – appointed by Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview
- Bradley Williams – appointed by Rep. Corey Harbison, R- Good Hope
- Josh Speakman – appointed by Rep. Scott Stadthagen, R-Hartselle
- Champ Crocker, chairman – appointed by the legislative delegation
Funding for CCCDC grants comes from taxes- Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in lieu of taxes and beer taxes. Grants are capped at $12,000 and are not issued for more than that amount except under extraordinary circumstances, which must be approved by the legislators.
