Sadly, Alabama fan Wanda Sue Wright Goodno Townson passed away on Wednesday, on Oct. 2, 2019 at her home in Arab, AL. Wanda Sue’s last alert moments was watching her beloved Alabama play Mississippi on Saturday with family and friends. At her request, she will be cremated. Wanda Sue was born Dec. 20, 1954 in Chicago, IL to Rev. Dalton James “DJ” and Shelly Faustine Parrish Wright
Being the oldest of six siblings, Wanda Sue was often left in charge while their parents worked and made a living. She was like a second mother to her siblings and always protected them like a little mother hen. That continued throughout her lifetime with her always looking out for each of them and later, that extended to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they were born. She loved to spoil each of them.
Wanda Sue is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Dalton James “DJ” Wright.
She is survived by her mother, Shelly Faustine Parrish Wright Carter, sons; Kerry “Hoke” Goodno and Kevin (Shirley) Goodno, brothers; Timothy “Tim” (Denise) Wright, James “Jimmy” Wright and Mark Wright, sisters; Ann (Junior) Goodno and Cathy (Michael) Kilgo, a special friend; Eugene Pitts; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel 6 pm, Saturday, October 5, 2019. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve Mrs. Townson’s family.
