CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter Volunteer Donna Ruttkay shared that last week’s Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week, Gus, has been adopted, and now she introduces us to a new canine friend:
Mr. Miles is a mix, but has many classic traits of the Carolina Dog, an ancient Native American breed known for its fishhook tail, tall standing ears and pack mentality that makes it fiercely loyal to the humans who form its family. Less than 2 years old, Mr. Miles is a medium-sized, laid-back, low- to-medium energy pet.
In her notes on her new canine friend, Ruttkay wrote, “Mr. Miles accompanied me for a good part of the afternoon. He slept, as business was conducted in the office, asked to go out.” She described him as “an alert, but unassuming, happy sort of fellow who likes being with you.”
She also said, “This is one amazing dog, folks!”
Mr. Miles has the makings of a good companion, emotional support or therapy dog.
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Mr. Miles’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
