BETHSADIA, Ala. – The Bethsadia Volunteer Fire Department is seeking candidates for its nine-member board that manages the business operations of the department. The deadline to get your name on the ballot is Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
Said the Bethsadia VFD: “In order to provide the best service to our community, we need a strong, diverse board that is elected by 1,008 due paying members. The deadline to submit your name to be included on the 2019 ballot is Sept. 5, 2019 at 7 p.m. All due paying members are eligible to run in this election. This is an excellent way to give back to your community. No fire service experience is required and board members are not required to fight fires or respond to calls. The board meets once a month.”
“They don’t need to know about firefighting,” said Bethsadia VFD Board President and EMS Capt. Jeff Byars. “We need well-rounded people who are capable of making sound business decisions.”
Candidates must live or work in the Bethsadia district and be due paying members. Dues are collected on residents’ power bills. Board members serve a one-year term, meeting once per month.
To get on the ballot, a potential candidate must send his or her name, address, phone number and a brief resume to bethsadiafire@yahoo.com or 454 County Road 804, Cullman, AL 35057.
