BERRY, Ala. – After trouncing the Meek Tigers 25-0 on the road to kick off the season last week, the Cold Springs Eagles hit the road again Friday night, this time to take on the Berry Wildcats. A fast start helped lift the Eagles over Meek last week but after falling behind 8-0 in the opening quarter, Cold Springs wasn’t able to muster enough offense to hold off the Wildcats, falling on the road 43-15.
Berry took an early 8-0 advantage in the opening period but began to pull away in the second quarter. The Eagles were able to find the end zone in the second and cut into the lead, but the Wildcats scored three more touchdowns before the half to take a 28-8 advantage into the break.
The Eagles found the end zone again in the third quarter to make it a 28-15 game, but Berry tacked on two more scores in the final period to put the game out of reach and hand Cold Springs its first loss of the season.
The Eagles will start region play next week when they return home to host Southeastern.
