TRIMBLE, Ala. – Two people were transported to Cullman Regional following what officials are saying was a lightning strike near the beach area of Smith Lake Park.
“A female took a possible direct hit,” said one EMT on the scene. “She looked right at me as we were getting her ready for transport.”
According to Cullman Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Phyllis Little, the incident happened around 4:15 p.m.
“It was a pop-up thunderstorm about 4:15 in area of Smith Lake Park,” Little said. “As people moved from the beach to their vehicles, two people were injured by an apparent lightning strike. Both were transported by Cullman Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Cullman Regional.”
No official information has been released regarding the current conditions of the two victims.
