CULLMAN, Ala. – Over two upcoming weekends, the Cullman Bowling Center will host “Bowling for Babies,” a fundraising mixed team tournament to benefit First Source for Women, a faith-based center offering a wide range of services for pregnant women and new families.
The tournament will take place at the Cullman Bowling Center, 1710 Tally Ho St. in Cullman on the weekends of July 20-21 and July 27–28. Saturday start times will be 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday start times will be 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Tournament entry is $30 per person; pot entry is $5.
The winner of the tournament will receive $1,000. Door prizes include a three-night stay in Gulf Shores and a YETI cooler.
Sanctioned tournament
Bowling for Babies may be a fundraiser, but it’s also going to see some serious bowling. This tournament will be sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). Immediate need for funding
First Source Director Catherine Bethell told The Tribune:
“First Source for Women is excited about partnering with Cullman Bowling Center for our (inaugural) Bowing for Babies! All proceeds from this event will go directly to First Source to help women in an unplanned pregnancy.
“At First Source we use education and advocacy to give every mom and her baby the best possible start, from a free ultrasound and pregnancy test to a new baby bed, car seat, diapers, clothing, blankets and more. The expectant mom will feel secure in the fact that they are loved and that we are there to help.
“Why are we having this event? Because we are now at a pivotal point in the ministry due to an increased level of community awareness, which has resulted in a greater influx of new clients in need of help. To date we are on target to double the number of clients we served in 2018. Bowling for Babies is critical for funding in these slow summer months, so we can continue in our mission to protect the most vulnerable by sharing Christ and helping women choose life for their unborn child.
“Please pray for this event and come out and join in the fun!”
