Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on July 3, 2019 at Lemley Funeral Home for Dr. Jack C. Avery born on January 31, 1929 and passed away on June 30, 2019. He was a resident at TLC Nursing Center in Oneonta.
Dr. Avery was a member of First Baptist Church were he was a member of the Choir. He graduated from Susan Moore High School, Snead State Community College, Samford University, Vanderbilt University (Master Degree in Education Science) and Nova Southeastern University where he received his Doctorate Degree in Cardiovascular Physiology. He retired from Gadsden State Commuinty College.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tugalo and Isa Yarbrough Avery; sisters Ruth Lattie and Mary W. Ford; brothers Glenn Avery, Clarence Avery and Russell Avery.
He is survived by his son Joe Avery (Julie); granddaughters Kyra Tidmore (Luke) and Abby Crigger; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Olive Home, TLC Nursing Center in Oneonta and New Beacon Hospice.
Family will receive friends at Lemley Funeral Home from 1-2 p.m. til hour of service at 2 p.m. with Bro. Bill Barnett officiating.
