DODGE CITY, Ala. – Dodge City will hold its annual festival, Dodge City Day, today, June 8. There is no rain date if weather has other plans.
“It’s a festival to bring people into Dodge City and see what it’s all about,” said Dodge City Town Clerk Vicki Ogletree.
Dodge City Day will feature vendors, a free lunch for visiting seniors at the Dodge City Senior Center and bouncy houses set up for the kids in front of Life Church.
The festival will kick off at 8 a.m. and go all day, with two gospel music performances scheduled: Genesis will be in front of the senior center from 10 a.m.-noon and Battleground Trio will play at the Dodge City Community Center from 6-8 p.m.
If kids want to cool down, the splash pad at Perry Ray Park will also be open.
Vendors will be set up between Jack’s and town hall, and some vendors will also be set up in the parking lot of Traditions Bank.
Said Mayor Tawana Canada, “We just hope it gives people a day of relaxation and fun to just come and see what Dodge City has to offer.”
She continued with a smile, “It is a community effort; people come in for the concerts and the vendors, and while they’re here they see what other businesses Dodge City has to offer, so everything’s free, but it’s paying back future business for our businesses.”
