HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The City of Hanceville will host its annual Fish-O-Rama events this Friday and Monday at Veterans Park. The senior citizen event will be Friday, May 3, at 7 a.m., while the kids will get their turn Monday, May 6 from 4-7 p.m. The kids’ event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved to Monday due to the threat of thunderstorms.
Both events are free to enter and will include door prizes, refreshments and hot dogs with chips. There will be trophies for different age groups and a trophy for the biggest fish caught each day.
As for the kids, organizers said, “If they can hold a fishing pole they are old enough to come out and be in our Fish-O-Rama.”
Each year, the pond at Veterans Park is stocked fresh with fish to be caught for the Fish-O-Rama.
Event Coordinator Callie Garmon said, “We want to get kids that normally don’t get an opportunity to fish, or have maybe never fished, to come out and spend time with their parents, grandparents and/or aunts and uncles and fish a little bit.”
