CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay shares The Cullman Tribune’s Pet of the Week.
Rufus is a mixed hound who may have some golden lab and Anatolian shepherd in him. He’s approximately 3-and-a-half to 4 years old, a seriously laid-back, low- to medium-energy pet. Shelter staff reports, “Not a peep from him in his kennel; (he) just waits patiently to go out,” and, “He enjoys being groomed.”
Rufus has the makings of a great reading, therapy, companion or emotional support dog.
Ruttkay shared, “His unassuming personality invites folks to say hi to him. His personality is a perfect fit for an emotional support dog; he can be brought into a high-anxiety situation.”
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Rufus’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Please consider adopting to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
