Phillip Arlin Batchelor, 51, of Double Springs, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Phillip was born on Dec. 13, 1967 in Haleyville. He was a graduate of Winston County High School Class of 1986 and attended the University of Alabama. He was a member of First Baptist Double Springs for 38 years. Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard as a combat engineer for seven years. He enjoyed his work in transportation design, where he worked as a project manager for an engineering company. Phillip was the President of the Double Springs Lions Club, as well as a member of the American Legion. He was an avid sports fan, especially a University of Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
Phillip never saw a stranger and always wanted to help others. He was dearly loved by all his family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all his health care nurses.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from noon until 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Double Springs, where services will be at 2 p.m. Brother Phillip Twilley will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Double Springs.
Phillip is survived by his mother, Kathryn Batchelor; brother, Grady Lee Batchelor, Jr. and his wife Jennifer; nephews, Grady Lee Batchelor III, Joshua Batchelor and his wife Milen, and Kevin Batchelor; great nephew, Elijah Jacob Batchelor; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Grady Batchelor; grandfathers, Judge Arlin Wakefield and Walter Batchelor; and grandmothers, Martha “Sybil” Wakefield and Viola Batchelor.
Pallbearers will be David Cockrell, Grady Lee Batchelor, III, Joshua Batchelor, Bryan Densmore, Jeremy Wakefield, Ron Harris, Jonathan Tidwell and Russell Sumner.
