(Update) Cullman man identified as victim in Sunday crash

JONES CHAPEL, Ala. – A Cullman man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 278 West near the community of Jones Chapel.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick confirmed the fatality, identifying the victim as Joshua Patrick Watson, 40.

Kilpatrick said the crash happened near the 9200 block of Hwy. 278 W at approximately 9 a.m.

Alabama State Troopers said Watson was killed when the 2012 Scion TC he was driving left the roadway on U.S. 278 and struck a tree. Watson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
