PREP SOFTBALL: Lady Raiders move to 4-0 in pool play at Gulf Shores Classic, Tuesday scoring wrap-up

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – After knocking off Dale County and Glenbrook North on Monday, the Lady Raiders moved to 4-0 in pool play at the Gulf Shores classic on Tuesday with wins over Demopolis and Central/Phenix City.

Good Hope 8 – Central/Phenix City 7

Good Hope trailed 7-2 in their game against Central/Phenix City, but they rallied in their final at-bats, and a Rebecca Norris two-run homer completed their 8-7 come-from-behind victory.

Norris finished with a hit, two RBIs, and a run scored. Angelina Flanagan added a pair of hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Jacqueline Hays finished with three hits and an RBI. Abby Hunt added a pair of hits and an RBI, while Bailey Swann ended up with a hit and an RBI.

Good Hope 8 – Demopolis 2

Good Hope and Demopolis were tied at two after two innings, but the Lady Raiders put up six runs in the next two innings to pull away at the end.

Swann finished with a pair of hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Skylar Tucker and Sidnie English each added a hit, pair of RBIs, and they each scored a run. Flanagan (one run scored) and Hunt each chipped in with a hit and an RBI. Hays added three hits and three runs scored.

Cullman 7 – Dodgesville 6

Cullman battled back from an early deficit to take a 5-3 lead. After Dodgesville took a 6-5 lead, the Lady Bearcats rallied back to win the game on a Carlie Burnham RBI double.

Ashlen Heatherly finished with a pair of hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored for Cullman. Burnham, Alex Stansell, and Faith Guest (one run scored) each added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Cullman 9 – Springboro 0

Sydney Holder pitched a complete game five-hit shutout for Cullman as they wound up taking the game, 9-0.

Stansell finished the game with three hits, four RBIs, and a run scored. Savannah Davis added a pair of hits and three RBIs, while Burnham added an RBI. McKenna Kline finished with three hits and a run scored, while Guest added a pair of hits and two runs scored.

Fairview 10 – Houston Academy 2

The Lady Aggies fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first but responded with eight runs in the top of the second to pull away from Houston Academy. Katie Ball (one hit) and Devan Fulmer each drove in two runs for Fairview and Kennedy Johnsons (one hit), Anna Scott and Kaitlyn Benson collected RBIs as well.

Wicksburg 9 – Fairview 2

Wicksburg plated four runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take a big lead over Fairview early. The Lady Aggies scored a pair in the top of the fourth on a homerun from Katie Ball, but it was too little too late and Wicksburg pulled away to win it 9-2.

Ball finished with two hits and two RBIs for Fairview in the loss.

Northmont 14 – West Point 4

Northmont took a 1-0 lead in the opening from but tacked on three more in the second and seven in the third to put the game out of reach for the Lady Warriors before they could get their bats going. Sydney Sellers (one hit) drove in a run for West Point and Gracie Abbott and Molly Pendley each recorded a hit as well. 

Gulf Shores 7 – West Point 5

The game was tied at 2 after the first inning but the Lady Warriors took a 5-3 lead by the start of the fifth. Unfortunately for West Point, Gulf Shores was able to bring three four runs across the plate in the top of the fifth to top the Lady Warriors.

Makayla Brown led the way for West Point at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Braelee Quinn (two hits) drove in a run for the Lady Warriors as well.
