CULLMAN – Get your dancing shoes on! The Cullman High School Jazz Band will host the 23rd annual Big Band Dance this Friday, Feb. 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the Cullman Civic Center.
The band will perform pieces from famous jazz musicians like Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and many more. Admission is $10. All ages are welcome, but organizers recommend supervision for ages 14 and younger. Door prizes will be awarded from a random selection of attendees’ ticket numbers. Drinks and various finger foods will be offered for guests as well.
The Cullman High School Jazz Band consists of 18 to 22 Cullman Band students grades 9-12, selected by audition. As the name implies, the group specializes in swing and jazz music. The band performs annually at the Cullman High School Band Christmas and spring concerts, Cullman’s local Strawberry Festival and other community events. The Big Band Dance is the group’s major event each year.
