HUNTSVILLE – The U.S National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Winter Storm Watch for an area including northern Alabama, beginning Tuesday at midnight and lasting through Tuesday at noon.
Counties included in the watch are: Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin (AL), Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb, Cullman, Moore, Lincoln and Franklin (TN).
* WHAT…Snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible.
* WHERE…Portions of north central, northeast and northwest Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.
* WHEN…From late Monday night through Tuesday morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
A quick transition from rain to snow will occur behind a passing cold front Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Snow is expected to continue through sunrise on Tuesday before tapering off to the east in the late morning hours. Snowfall accumulations between 1 1/2 to 3 inches are possible through Tuesday morning.
