CULLMAN – Applications are being accepted now for the 2019 spring session of the popular Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Citizens' Academy. The academy is a nine-week course and is free to the public; however, class size is limited.

The spring session will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Classes will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. There is no fee.

Academy students will learn about virtually every aspect of a deputy’s job, including patrol, administration, dispatch, communications, criminal law, SWAT, crime scene investigation, jail operations and more. Activities will include a SWAT team demonstration, tour of the Cullman County Detention Center, a morning at the shooting range, ride-alongs with deputies and many classroom speakers.

The academy will take place at the CCSO’s training facility next door to the sheriff’s office at 1920 Beech Ave. SE. To obtain an application, visit the CCSO at 1910 Beech Ave. SE, or contact Deputy Bradley Williams at bwilliams@cullmansheriff.org.
