Br. Benedict Dyar (St. Bernard)
CULLMAN – On Saturday, Jan. 12, Br. Benedict Dyar, O.S.B. will be hosting a book signing of his newly released novel, “The Flame of Telbyrin” at the Ave Maria Grotto bookstore in Cullman. Dyar hopes that his novel will help bring light and joy to all who read it.
“It’s just a good story that I’m very proud of,” he said. “It’s not overly religious but gives the reader a taste of the message of both faithfulness and self-sacrifice. I sincerely hope the reader will find joy and life in reading it.”
The story takes place in the fictional world of Telbyrin, a world of elves, humans, wood fays and the dreaded Meldron. At the center of the world is the Sacred Flame of Telbyrin where the Creator touched the world into existence. All the peoples venerate it as the sign of creation’s prayers that rise to the Creator. All except the Meldron, a race with a supposed secret knowledge of dread power that is rumored to hold the key to immortality.
The reader will enter into the world of two young married elves who live peacefully on a cattle farm, one a warrior of great renown and the other a common but courageous farm girl. During their annual pilgrimage to the Sacred Flame, they discover that the Flame is going out. All of a sudden these two peaceful elves get caught up in an adventure of discovery of why the Flame is going out and who or what may be behind it.
“The story hopefully has the key ingredients of a good Christian fantasy adventure novel,” said Dyar. “It has action and adventure, heroes and villains, good and evil, double-crosses and dear friendships, romance, and most importantly, a take home faith message. I very much enjoyed writing it and hope to write more books on Telbyrin soon.”
The book signing will start at 11:30 a.m. and last until 2:30 p.m. Copies of the book will continue to be sold at the Ave Maria Grotto bookstore and online at www.Amazon.com.
